Carlos is the founding partner of the firm, has more than 18 years of experience as a transactional lawyer, and is licensed to practice law in Mexico and the state of New York; as well as he has taught international law and professional ethics at the business school of Universidad Panamericana, and several courses on regulatory matters on energy and natural resources.

Carlos stands out for his proactivity, great negotiation skills, and for having a practical approach to solving legal and business problems. Prior to founding Muskus Abogados, he worked in some of the most reputable consulting and law firms in the country; where he participated in a wide variety of projects in different industries, which allowed him to more accurately identify and attend his clients’ concerns.

Among such matters, he advised industrial and financial companies on mergers, acquisitions and divestments; structured and negotiated various financing schemes, representing both debtors and creditors; prepared and negotiated consortium and joint venture agreements, for national and foreign investors; participated in the development and financing of power plants; and represented clients in bidding and government contracting processes with different governmental entities.

In addition to the above, Carlos is recognized in the Energy and Natural Resources Practice as a Next Generation Partner by The Legal 500 since 2020, and recommended as an eminent practitioner for Energy Law by The Best Lawyers magazine since 2023.

Arturo is a partner at Muskus Abogados and has more than 15 years of experience. Having worked in the Federal Judiciary and as an advisor to major banks and financial institutions nationwide, Arturo stands out as one of the most well-rounded and experienced litigating attorneys in the country.

His professional practice focuses mainly on civil, commercial, and insolvency litigation, as well as risk advisory for investment and participation in national and international arbitration proceedings.

Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to gain deep insight into the perspective of judges, having served as Secretary of Agreements, Drafting Secretary, and Officer within the Federal Judiciary. He has also acted as legal representative for various financial institutions in collection proceedings, contractual breaches, insolvency cases, and has advised clients in preparation for arbitration proceedings.

Finally, Arturo has a particular interest in matters related to Constitutional Relief (Amparo), Human Rights, and State Liability, areas in which he has had the opportunity to participate firsthand, both from the perspective of the courts and as counsel representing plaintiffs.

Christian participates as counsel to Muskus Abogados and has more than 12 years of experience as a lawyer. Having worked in some of the best law firms nationwide, he has had the opportunity to participate in highly specialized projects and gain expertise from some of the most renowned professionals in various industries.

He stands out for his attention to detail, as well as his fine analysis of regulatory aspects of the projects in which he participates.

Throughout his career he has found a niche of special interest in real estate, environmental law, regulatory matters, climate change and social impact issues. He has a special interest in issues related to sustainable finance and ESG matters; in these areas, he has had the opportunity to participate in due diligences to identify and evaluate regulatory risks; provided legal advice for the acquisition and development of land in urban, rural and industrial areas; and represented clients on issues of waste management and environmental emissions.

Christian has been recommended by The Legal 500 in the environmental practice since 2021. He is also a professor of Environmental Law at postgraduate level at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.

Ivan joined as Counsel of Muskus Abogados since 2024 and has over 25 years of professional experience focused on telecommunications, competition law, and administrative litigation sectors.

Most of his career has been in the public service, holding senior-level positions in key regulatory bodies such as the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT, now the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission) and the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE, now the National Antitrust Commission), as well as within the Federal Judiciary and various agencies and entities of the Mexico City Government.

His legal practice combines both strategic and technical perspectives, informed by his experience in the design, implementation, and enforcement of regulatory frameworks—both from within State institutions and through advising private clients on complex issues related to economic regulation.

At the IFT, he served as Director of Regulatory Affairs, Director of Special Proceedings, and General Director of Monopolistic Practices and Unlawful Concentrations, leading critical areas in the legal oversight of market conduct—including the first-ever barrier-to-competition proceeding in digital markets (mobile OS) in Mexico. At COFECE, he held the positions of Director of Agreements and Legal Director for Privatization and Public Bidding Processes, actively participating in landmark antitrust cases in the country.
